Easy Shakshuka Recipe

The Ottoman North African dish is a hot and spicy pan of tomato, bell pepper sauce and poached eggs. Shakshuka is the best to have in breakfast with white/brown bread, pita bread or roasted potatoes. The specialty in this recipe is that we have added a touch of Sri Lankan magical spices to enhance the taste of the dish. Hope you would enjoy the recipe!

Ingredients:

Oil

Spring onions- 4-5

Ginger garlic paste- 1tbsp

Eggs- 3

Onions- 1(big)

Yellow bell pepper- 1/2 (medium sized)

Puree of 2 medium sized tomatoes

Sri Lankan Roasted curry powder- 1/2tsp (Find the method in our Youtube channel. Link given below)

Tomato- 1(medium sized)

Salt

Spring onion leaves

Method:

STEP 1

Pour oil in a heated pan. Add spring onions, ginger garlic paste and mix well.

STEP 2

Add onions, bell pepper, tomato puree, chilli powder, Sri Lankan roasted curry powder , salt and mix again.

STEP 3

Make some holes in the sauce and pour an egg on each hole. Close and let the eggs boil.

STEP 4

When the egg is boiled, sprinkle some spring onion leaves on top.

-Serve the hot Shakshuka with bread for breakfast!-
